Though similar in appearance & structure, diamonds are in fact sourced very differently from moissanite gems. Diamonds are a profit-driven industry. A rough diamond is discovered, purchased & mined from the ground by an appointed company (usually DeBeers). From the mine onward, all profits go back to the one company that owns the rights to mine that specific deposit of diamonds.
Moissanite, on the other hand, is a rare naturally occurring mineral that was discovered by Nobel Prize winner Dr. Henri Moissan at a meteor blast site in Arizona in 1893. There are no companies involved in sourcing Moissanite or mining it from the earth – no middlemen whatsoever!
